<3541 koh > saith <0559 >amar > the Lord <0136 >Adonay > GOD
<3069 Y@hovih > concerning Edom <0123 >Edom >; We have heard
<8085 shama< > a rumour <8052 sh@muw<ah > from the LORD <3068
Y@hovah >, and an ambassador <6735 tsiyr > is sent <7971 shalach
> among the heathen <1471 gowy >, Arise <6965 quwm > ye, and let
us rise <6965 quwm > up against <5921 <al > her in battle <4421
milchamah >.
2 Behold <2009 hinneh >, I have made <5414 nathan > thee small
<6996 qatan > among the heathen <1471 gowy >: thou art greatly
<3966 m@<od > despised <0959 bazah >.
3 The pride <2087 zadown > of thine heart <3820 leb > hath
deceived <5377 nasha> > thee, thou that dwellest <7931 shakan >
in the clefts <2288 chagav > of the rock <5553 cela< >, whose
habitation <3427 yashab > [is] high <4791 marowm >; that saith
<0559 >amar > in his heart <3820 leb >, Who <4310 miy > shall
bring <3381 yarad > me down <3381 yarad > to the ground <0776

4 Though <0518 >im > thou exalt <1361 gabahh > [thyself] as the
eagle <5404 nesher >, and though <0518 >im > thou set <7760 suwm
> thy nest <7064 qen > among <0996 beyn > the stars <3556 kowkab
>, thence <8033 sham > will I bring <3381 yarad > thee down

5 If <0518 >im > thieves <1590 gannab > came <0935 bow> > to
thee, if <0518 >im > robbers <7703 shadad > by night <3915 layil
>, (how art thou cut <1820 damah > off!) would they not have
stolen <1589 ganab > till they had enough <1767 day >? if <0518
>im > the grapegatherers <1219 batsar > came <0935 bow> > to
thee, would <14> they not leave <7604 sha>ar > [some] grapes?
6 How <0349 >eyk > are [the things] of Esau <6215 <Esav >
searched <2664 chaphas > out! [how] are his hidden <4710 mitspun
> things sought <1156 b@<a> > up!
7 All <3605 kol > the men <0582 >enowsh > of thy confederacy
<1285 b@riyth > have brought <7971 shalach > thee [even] to the
border <1366 g@buwl >: the men <0582 >enowsh > that were at
peace <7965 shalowm > with thee have deceived <5377 nasha> >
thee, [and] prevailed <3201 yakol > against thee; [they that
eat] thy bread <3899 lechem > have laid <7760 suwm > a wound

8 Shall I not in that day <3117 yowm >, saith <5002 n@>um > the
LORD <3068 Y@hovah >, even destroy <6> the wise <2450 chakam >
[men] out of Edom <0123 >Edom >, and understanding <8394 tabuwn
> out of the mount <2022 har > of Esau <6215 <Esav >?
9 And thy mighty <1368 gibbowr > [men], O Teman <8487 Teyman >,
shall be dismayed <2865 chathath >, to the end <4616 ma<an >
that every <0376 >iysh > one <0376 >iysh > of the mount <2022
har > of Esau <6215 <Esav > may be cut <3772 karath > off by
slaughter <6993 qetel >.
10. For [thy] violence <2555 chamac > against thy brother <0251
>ach > Jacob <3290 Ya<aqob > shame <0955 buwshah > shall cover
<3680 kacah > thee, and thou shalt be cut <3772 karath > off for
ever <5769 <owlam >.
11 In the day <3117 yowm > that thou stoodest <5975 <amad > on
the other <5048 neged > side <5048 neged >, in the day <3117
yowm > that the strangers <2114 zuwr > carried <7617 shabah >
away captive <7617 shabah > his forces <2428 chayil >, and
foreigners <5237 nokriy > entered <0935 bow> > into his gates
<8179 sha<ar >, and cast <3032 yadad > lots <1486 gowral > upon
Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >, even <1571 gam > thou [wast] as
one <0259 >echad > of them.
12 But thou shouldest not have looked <7200 ra>ah > on the day
<3117 yowm > of thy brother <0251 >ach > in the day <3117 yowm >
that he became <5235 neker > a stranger <5235 neker >; neither
<0408 >al > shouldest thou have rejoiced <8055 samach > over the
children <1121 ben > of Judah <3063 Y@huwdah > in the day <3117
yowm > of their destruction <6>; neither <0408 >al > shouldest
thou have spoken <6310 peh > proudly <1431 gadal > in the day
<3117 yowm > of distress <6869 tsarah >.
13 Thou shouldest not have entered <0935 bow> > into the gate
<8179 sha<ar > of my people <5971 <am > in the day <3117 yowm >
of their calamity <0343 >eyd >; yea <1571 gam >, thou shouldest
not have looked <7200 ra>ah > on their affliction <7451 ra< > in
the day <3117 yowm > of their calamity <0343 >eyd >, nor <0408
>al > have laid <7971 shalach > [hands] on their substance <2428
chayil > in the day <3117 yowm > of their calamity <0343 >eyd >;
14 Neither <0408 >al > shouldest thou have stood <5975 <amad >
in the crossway <6563 pereq >, to cut <3772 karath > off those
of his that did escape <6412 paliyt >; neither <0408 >al >
shouldest thou have delivered <5462 cagar > up those of his that
did remain <8300 sariyd > in the day <3117 yowm > of distress
<6869 tsarah >.
15 For the day <3117 yowm > of the LORD <3068 Y@hovah > [is]
near <7138 qarowb > upon all <3605 kol > the heathen <1471 gowy
>: as thou hast done <6213 <asah >, it shall be done <6213 <asah
> unto thee: thy reward <1576 g@muwl > shall return <7725 shuwb
> upon thine own head <7218 ro>sh >.
16 For as ye have drunk <8354 shathah > upon my holy <6944
qodesh > mountain <2022 har >, [so] shall all <3605 kol > the
heathen <1471 gowy > drink <8354 shathah > continually <8548
tamiyd >, yea, they shall drink <8354 shathah >, and they shall
swallow <3886 luwa< > down, and they shall be as though they had
not been <1961 hayah >.
17. But upon mount <2022 har > Zion <6726 Tsiyown > shall be
deliverance <6413 p@leytah >, and there shall be holiness <6944
qodesh >; and the house <1004 bayith > of Jacob <3290 Ya<aqob >
shall possess <3423 yarash > their possessions <4180 mowrash >.
18 And the house <1004 bayith > of Jacob <3290 Ya<aqob > shall
be a fire <0784 >esh >, and the house <1004 bayith > of Joseph
<3130 Yowceph > a flame <3852 lehabah >, and the house <1004
bayith > of Esau <6215 <Esav > for stubble <7179 qash >, and
they shall kindle <1814 dalaq > in them, and devour <0398 >akal
> them; and there shall not be [any] remaining <8300 sariyd > of
the house <1004 bayith > of Esau <6215 <Esav >; for the LORD
<3068 Y@hovah > hath spoken <1696 dabar > [it].
19 And [they of] the south <5045 negeb > shall possess <3423
yarash > the mount <2022 har > of Esau <6215 <Esav >; and [they
of] the plain <8219 sh@phelah > the Philistines <6430 P@lishtiy
>: and they shall possess <3423 yarash > the fields <7704 sadeh
> of Ephraim <0669 >Ephrayim >, and the fields <7704 sadeh > of
Samaria <8111 Shom@rown >: and Benjamin <1144 Binyamiyn > [shall
possess] Gilead <1568 Gil<ad >.
20 And the captivity <1546 galuwth > of this <2088 zeh > host
<2426 cheyl > of the children <1121 ben > of Israel <3478
Yisra>el > [shall possess] that of the Canaanites <3669
K@na<aniy >, [even] unto Zarephath <6886 Tsar@phath >; and the
captivity <1546 galuwth > of Jerusalem <3389 Y@ruwshalaim >,
which <0834 >aher > [is] in Sepharad <5614 C@pharad >, shall
possess <0423 >alah > the cities <5892 <iyr > of the south <5045
negeb >.
21 And saviours <3467 yasha< > shall come <5927 <alah > up on
mount <2022 har > Zion <6726 Tsiyown > to judge <8199 shaphat >
the mount <2022 har > of Esau <6215 <Esav >; and the kingdom
<4410 m@luwkah > shall be the LORD'S <3068 Y@hovah >.
