 4 That thou mightest know <1921-epiginosko-> the certainty

 5. There was in the days <2250-hemera-> of Herod <2264-Herodes-

 12 And when Zacharias <2197-Zacharias-> saw <1492-eido-> [him],

 13 But the angel <0032-aggelos-> said <2036-epo-> unto him,

Fear <5399-phobeo-> not, Zacharias <2197-Zacharias->: for thy

prayer <1162-deesis-> is heard <1522-eisakouo->; and thy wife

<1135-gune-> Elisabeth <1665-Elisabet-> shall bear <1080-gennao-

> thee a son <5207-huios->, and thou shalt call <2564-kaleo->

his name <3686-onoma-> John <2491-Ioannes->.

 14 And thou shalt have <2071-esomai-> joy <5479-chara-> and

gladness <0020-agalliasis->; and many <4183-polus-> shall

rejoice <5463-chairo-> at <1909-epi-> his birth <1083-gennesis->.

 15 For he shall be great <3173-megas-> in the sight <1799-

enopion-> of the Lord <2962-kurios->, and shall drink <4095-pino-

> neither <3361-me-> wine <3631-oinos-> nor <2532-kai-> strong

<4608-sikera-> drink <4608-sikera->; and he shall be filled

 17 And he shall go <4281-proerchomai-> before <1799-enopion->

him in the spirit <4151-pneuma-> and power <1411-dunamis-> of

Elias <2243-Helias->, to turn <1994-epistrepho-> the hearts

<2588-kardia-> of the fathers <3962-pater-> to the children

<5043-teknon->, and the disobedient <0545-apeithes-> to the

wisdom <5428-phronesis-> of the just <1342-dikaios->; to make

 18 And Zacharias <2197-Zacharias-> said <2036-epo-> unto the

ginosko-> this <5124-touto->? for I am an old <4246-presbutes->

man, and my wife <1135-gune-> well <4260-probaino-> stricken

<4260-probaino-> in years <2250-hemera->.

 19 And the angel <0032-aggelos-> answering <0611-apokrinomai->

said <2036-epo-> unto him, I am <1510-eimi-> Gabriel <1043-

Gabriel->, that stand <3936-paristemi-> in the presence <1799-

enopion-> of God <2316-theos->; and am sent <0649-apostello-> to

speak <2980-laleo-> unto thee, and to shew <2097-euaggelizo->

thee these <5023-tauta-> glad <2097-euaggelizo-> tidings <2097-

euaggelizo->.

 20 And, behold <2400-idou->, thou shalt be dumb <4623-siopao->,

and not able <1410-dunamai-> to speak <2980-laleo->, until <0891-

achri-> the day <2250-hemera-> that these <5023-tauta-> things

shall be performed <1096-ginomai->, because <3759-ouai-> thou

believest <4100-pisteuo-> not my words <3056-logos->, which

<3748-hostis-> shall be fulfilled <4137-pleroo-> in their season

 21 And the people <2992-laos-> waited <4328-prosdokao-> for

Zacharias <2197-Zacharias->, and marvelled <2296-thaumazo-> that

he tarried <5549-chronizo-> so long in the temple <3485-naos->.

 22 And when he came <1831-exerchomai-> out, he could <1410-

dunamai-> not speak <2980-laleo-> unto them: and they perceived

<1921-epiginosko-> that he had seen <3708-horao-> a vision <3701-

optasia-> in the temple <3485-naos->: for he beckoned <1269-

 23 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that, as soon as the

 26. And in the sixth <1623-hektos-> month <3376-men-> the angel

> from God <2316-theos-> unto a city <4172-polis-> of Galilee

<1056-Galilaia->, named <3686-onoma-> Nazareth <3478-Nazareth->,

 27 To a virgin <3933-parthenos-> espoused <3423-mnesteuo-> to a

man <0435-aner-> whose <3739-hos-> name <3686-onoma-> was Joseph

unto her, and said <2036-epo->, Hail <5463-chairo->, [thou that

art] highly favoured <5487-charitoo->, the Lord <2962-kurios->

[is] with thee: blessed <2127-eulogeo-> [art] thou among <1722-

en-> women <1135-gune->.

 29 And when she saw <1492-eido-> [him], she was troubled <1298-

diatarasso-> at <1909-epi-> his saying <3056-logos->, and cast

<1260-dialogizomai-> in her mind what <4217-potapos-> manner

<4217-potapos-> of salutation <0783-aspasmos-> this <3778-houtos-

> should be.

 30 And the angel <0032-aggelos-> said <2036-epo-> unto her,

Fear <5399-phobeo-> not, Mary <3137-Maria->: for thou hast found

<2147-heurisko-> favour <5485-charis-> with God <2316-theos->.

 31 And, behold <2400-idou->, thou shalt conceive <4815-

sullambano-> in thy womb <1064-gaster->, and bring <5088-tikto->

forth <5088-tikto-> a son <5207-huios->, and shalt call <2564-

kaleo-> his name <3686-onoma-> JESUS <2424-Iesous->.

 32 He shall be great <3173-megas->, and shall be called <2564-

kaleo-> the Son <5207-huios-> of the Highest <5310-hupsistos->:

and the Lord <2962-kurios-> God <2316-theos-> shall give <1325-

didomi-> unto him the throne <2362-thronos-> of his father <3962-

pater-> David <1138-Dabid->:

 33 And he shall reign <0936-basileuo-> over <1909-epi-> the

house <3624-oikos-> of Jacob <2384-Iakob-> for ever <0165-aion->;

 and of his kingdom <0932-basileia-> there shall be no <3756-ou-

angel <0032-aggelos->, How <4459-pos-> shall this <5124-touto->

be, seeing <1893-epei-> I know <1097-ginosko-> not a man <0435-

aner->?

 35 And the angel <0032-aggelos-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->

and said <2036-epo-> unto her, The Holy <0040-hagios-> Ghost

<4151-pneuma-> shall come <1904-eperchomai-> upon thee, and the

power <1411-dunamis-> of the Highest <5310-hupsistos-> shall

overshadow <1982-episkiazo-> thee: therefore <1352-dio-> also

<2532-kai-> that holy <0040-hagios-> thing which shall be born

<1080-gennao-> of thee shall be called <2564-kaleo-> the Son

 36 And, behold <2400-idou->, thy cousin <4773-suggenes->

Elisabeth <1665-Elisabet->, she hath also <2532-kai-> conceived

<4815-sullambano-> a son <5207-huios-> in her old <1094-geras->

age: and this <3778-houtos-> is the sixth <1623-hektos-> month

 39. And Mary <3137-Maria-> arose <0450-anistemi-> in those

 41 And it came <1096-ginomai-> to pass, that, when <5613-hos->

Elisabeth <1665-Elisabet-> heard <0191-akouo-> the salutation

<0783-aspasmos-> of Mary <3137-Maria->, the babe <1025-brephos->

leaped <4640-skirtao-> in her womb <2836-koilia->; and Elisabeth

 42 And she spake <0400-anaphoneo-> out with a loud <3173-megas-

> voice <5456-phone->, and said <2036-epo->, Blessed <2127-

eulogeo-> [art] thou among <1722-en-> women <1135-gune->, and

blessed <2127-eulogeo-> [is] the fruit <2590-karpos-> of thy

 43 And whence <4159-pothen-> [is] this <5124-touto-> to me,

that the mother <3384-meter-> of my Lord <2962-kurios-> should

come <2064-erchomai-> to me?

 44 For, lo <2400-idou->, as soon as the voice <5456-phone-> of

thy salutation <0783-aspasmos-> sounded <1096-ginomai-> in mine

<3450-mou-> ears <3775-ous->, the babe <1025-brephos-> leaped

<4640-skirtao-> in my womb <2836-koilia-> for joy <0020-

agalliasis->.

 45 And blessed <3107-makarios-> [is] she that believed <4100-

pisteuo->: for there shall be a performance <5050-teleiosis-> of

those <3588-ho-> things which were told <2980-laleo-> her from

the Lord <2962-kurios->.

 46 And Mary <3137-Maria-> said <2036-epo->, My soul <5590-

psuche-> doth magnify <3170-megaluno-> the Lord <2962-kurios->,

 47 And my spirit <4151-pneuma-> hath rejoiced <0021-agalliao->

in God <2316-theos-> my Saviour <4990-soter->.

 48 For he hath regarded <1914-epiblepo-> the low <5014-

tapeinosis-> estate of his handmaiden <1399-doule->: for, behold

<2400-idou->, from henceforth <3568-nun-> all <3956-pas->

generations <1074-genea-> shall call <3106-makarizo-> me blessed

 60 And his mother <3384-meter-> answered <0611-apokrinomai->

and said <2036-epo->, Not [so]; but he shall be called <2564-

kaleo-> John <2491-Ioannes->.

 61 And they said <2036-epo-> unto her, There is none <3762-

oudeis-> of thy kindred <4772-suggeneia-> that is called <2564-

kaleo-> by this <5129-toutoi-> name <3686-onoma->.

 62 And they made <1770-enneuo-> signs <1770-enneuo-> to his

father <3962-pater->, how <5101-tis-> he would <2309-thelo->

have him called <2564-kaleo->.

 63 And he asked <0154-aiteo-> for a writing <4093-pinakidion->

lego->, His name <3686-onoma-> is John <2491-Ioannes->. And they

marvelled <2296-thaumazo-> all <3956-pas->.

 68 Blessed <2128-eulogetos-> [be] the Lord <2962-kurios-> God

<2316-theos-> of Israel <2474-Israel->; for he hath visited

<1980-episkeptomai-> and redeemed <3085-lutrosis-> his people

 77 To give <1325-didomi-> knowledge <1108-gnosis-> of salvation

Luke 2
