Colossians   1

 1. Paul <3972>, an apostle <0652> of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>

by the will <2307> of God <2316>, and Timotheus <5095> [our]

brother <0080>,

 2  To the saints <0040> and faithful <4103> brethren <0080> in

Christ <5547> which are at <1722> Colosse <2857>: Grace <5485>

[be] unto you, and peace <1515>, from God <2316> our Father

<3962> and the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.

 3. We give thanks <2168> to God <2316> and the Father <3962> of

our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, praying <4336>

always <3842> for you,

 4  Since we heard <0191> of your <5216> faith <4102> in Christ

<5547> Jesus <2424>, and of the love <0026> [which <3588> ye

have] to all <3956> the saints <0040>,

 5  For the hope <1680> which <3588> is laid <0606> up for you

in heaven <3772>, whereof <3739> ye heard <4257> before <4257>

in the word <3056> of the truth <0226> of the gospel <2098>;

 6  Which <3588> is come <3918> unto you, as [it is] in all

<3956> the world <2889>; and bringeth <2592> forth fruit <2592>,

as [it doth] also <2532> in you, since <0575> the day <2250> ye

heard <0191> [of it], and knew <1921> the grace <5485> of God

<2316> in truth <0226>:

 7  As ye also <2532> learned <3129> of Epaphras <1889> our dear

<0027> fellowservant <4889>, who <3739> is for you a faithful

<4103> minister <1249> of Christ <5547>;

 8  Who <3588> also <2532> declared <1213> unto us your <5216>

love <0026> in the Spirit <4151>.

 9. For this <5124> cause <5124> we also <2532>, since <0575>

the day <2250> we heard <0191> [it], do not cease <3973> to pray

<4336> for you, and to desire <0154> that ye might be filled

<4137> with the knowledge <1922> of his will <2307> in all

<3956> wisdom <4678> and spiritual <4152> understanding <4907>;

 10  That ye might walk <4043> worthy <0516> of the Lord <2962>

unto all <3956> pleasing <0699>, being fruitful <2592> in every

<3596> good <0018> work <2041>, and increasing <0837> in the

knowledge <1922> of God <2316>;

 11  Strengthened <1412> with all <3956> might <1411>, according

<2596> to his glorious <1391> power <2904>, unto all <3956>

patience <5281> and longsuffering <3115> with joyfulness <5479>;

 12. Giving thanks <2168> unto the Father <3962>, which <3588>

hath made <2427> us meet <2427> to be partakers <3310> of the

inheritance <2819> of the saints <0040> in light <5457>:

 13  Who <3739> hath delivered <4506> us from the power <1849>

of darkness <4655>, and hath translated <3179> [us] into <1519>

the kingdom <0932> of his dear <0026> Son <5207>:

 14  In whom <3739> we have <2192> redemption <0629> through

<1223> his blood <0129>, [even] the forgiveness <0859> of sins

<0266>:

 15  Who <3739> is the image <1504> of the invisible <0517> God

<2316>, the firstborn <4416> of every <3596> creature <2937>:

 16  For by him were all <3956> things created <2936>, that are

in heaven <3772>, and that are in earth <1093>, visible <3707>

and invisible <0517>, whether <1535> [they be] thrones <2362>,

or <1535> dominions <2963>, or <1535> principalities <0746>, or

<1535> powers <1849>: all <3956> things were created <2936> by

him, and for him:

 17  And he is before <4253> all <3956> things, and by him all

<3956> things consist <4921>.

 18  And he is the head <2776> of the body <4983>, the church

<1577>: who <3739> is the beginning <0746>, the firstborn <4416>

from the dead <3498>; that in all <3956> [things] he might have

the preeminence <4409>.

 19  For it pleased <2106> [the Father] that in him should all

<3956> fulness <4138> dwell <2730>;

 20  And, having made <1517> peace <1517> through <1223> the

blood <0129> of his cross <4716>, by him to reconcile <0604> all

<3956> things unto himself <0848>; by him, [I say], whether

<1535> [they be] things in earth <1093>, or <1535> things in

heaven <3772>.

 21  And you, that were sometime <4218> alienated <0526> and

enemies <2190> in [your <3588>] mind <1271> by wicked <4190>

works <2041>, yet <1161> now <3570> hath he reconciled <0604>

 22  In the body <4983> of his flesh <4561> through <1223> death

<2288>, to present <3936> you holy <0040> and unblameable <0299>

and unreproveable <0410> in his sight <2714>:

 23  If <1489> ye continue <1961> in the faith <4102> grounded

<2311> and settled <1476>, and [be] not moved <3334> away <3334>

from the hope <1680> of the gospel <2098>, which ye have heard

<0191>, [and] which <3588> was preached <2784> to every <3596>

creature <2937> which is under <5259> heaven <3772>; whereof

<3739> I Paul <3972> am made <1096> a minister <1249>;

 24  Who now <3568> rejoice <5463> in my sufferings <3804> for

you, and fill <0466> up that which is behind <5303> of the

afflictions <2347> of Christ <5547> in my flesh <4561> for his

body's <4983> sake, which <3739> is the church <1577>:

 25  Whereof <3739> I am made <1096> a minister <1249>,

according <2596> to the dispensation <3622> of God <2316> which

<3588> is given <1325> to me for you, to fulfil <4137> the word

<3056> of God <2316>;

 26  [Even] the mystery <3466> which <3588> hath been hid <0613>

from ages <0165> and from generations <1074>, but now <3570> is

made <5319> manifest <5319> to his saints <0040>:

 27  To whom <3739> God <2316> would <2309> make <1107> known

<1107> what <5101> [is] the riches <4149> of the glory <1391> of

this <5127> mystery <3466> among <1722> the Gentiles <1484>;

which <3739> is Christ <5547> in you, the hope <1680> of glory

<1391>:

 28  Whom <3739> we preach <2605>, warning <3560> every <3596>

man <0444>, and teaching <1321> every <3596> man <0444> in all

<3956> wisdom <4678>; that we may present <3936> every <3596>

man <0444> perfect <5046> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>:

 29  Whereunto <3739> I also <2532> labour <2872>, striving

<0075> according <2596> to his working <1753>, which <3588>

worketh <1754> in me mightily <1411>.

Colossians   2

 1. For I would <2309> that ye knew <1492> what <2245> great

<2245> conflict <0073> I have <2192> for you, and [for] them at

<1722> Laodicea <2993>, and [for] as many <3745> as have not

seen <3708> my face <4383> in the flesh <4561>;

 2  That their hearts <2588> might be comforted <3870>, being

knit <4822> together <4822> in love <0026>, and unto all <3956>

riches <4149> of the full <4136> assurance <4136> of

understanding <4907>, to the acknowledgement <1922> of the

mystery <3466> of God <2316>, and of the Father <3962>, and of

Christ <5547>;

 3  In whom <3739> are hid <0614> all <3956> the treasures

<2344> of wisdom <4678> and knowledge <1108>.

 4. And this <5124> I say <3004>, lest <3361> any <3387> man

should beguile <3884> you with enticing <4086> words <4086>.

 5  For though <1499> I be absent <0548> in the flesh <4561>,

yet <0235> am <1510> I with you in the spirit <4151>, joying

<5463> and beholding <0991> your <5216> order <5010>, and the

stedfastness <4733> of your <5216> faith <4102> in Christ <5547>.

 6  As ye have therefore <3767> received <3880> Christ <5547>

Jesus <2424> the Lord <2962>, [so] walk <4043> ye in him:

 7  Rooted <4492> and built <2026> up in him, and stablished

<0950> in the faith <4102>, as ye have been taught <1321>,

abounding <4052> therein <0846> with thanksgiving <2169>.

 8  Beware <0991> lest <3361> any <3387> man spoil <4812> you

through <1223> philosophy <5385> and vain <2756> deceit <0539>,

after <2596> the tradition <3862> of men <0444>, after <2596>

the rudiments <4747> of the world <2889>, and not after <2596>

Christ <5547>.

 9  For in him dwelleth <2730> all <3956> the fulness <4138> of

the Godhead <2320> bodily <4985>.

 10  And ye are complete <4137> in him, which <3739> is the head

<2776> of all <3956> principality <0746> and power <1849>:

 11  In whom <3739> also <2532> ye are circumcised <4059> with

the circumcision <4061> made <1096> without <0886> hands <0886>,

in putting <0555> off <0554> the body <4983> of the sins <0266>

of the flesh <4561> by the circumcision <4061> of Christ <5547>:

 12  Buried <4916> with him in baptism <0908>, wherein <3757>

also <2532> ye are risen <4891> with [him] through <1223> the

faith <4102> of the operation <1753> of God <2316>, who <3588>

hath raised <1453> him from the dead <3498>.

 13. And you, being <5607> dead <3498> in your <5216> sins

<3900> and the uncircumcision <0203> of your <5216> flesh <4561>,

 hath he quickened <4806> together <4806> with him, having

forgiven <5483> you all <3956> trespasses <3900>;

 14  Blotting <1813> out the handwriting <5498> of ordinances

<1378> that was against <2596> us, which <3739> was contrary

<5227> to us, and took <0142> it out of the way <3319>, nailing

<4338> it to his cross <4716>;

 15  [And] having spoiled <0554> principalities <0746> and

powers <1849>, he made <1165> a shew <1165> of them openly

<3954>, triumphing <2358> over them in it.

 16. Let no <3361> man <5100> therefore <3767> judge <2919> you

in meat <1035>, or <2228> in drink <4213>, or <2228> in respect

<3313> of an holyday <1859>, or <2228> of the new <3561> moon

<3561>, or <2228> of the sabbath <4521> [days]:

 17  Which <3739> are a shadow <4639> of things to come <3195>;

but the body <4983> [is] of Christ <5547>.

 18  Let no <3367> man <3367> beguile <2603> you of your reward

<2603> in a voluntary <2309> humility <5012> and worshipping

<2356> of angels <0032>, intruding <1687> into those things

which <3739> he hath not seen <3708>, vainly <1500> puffed

<5448> up by his fleshly mind <3563>,

 19  And not holding <2902> the Head <2776>, from which <3739>

all <3956> the body <4983> by joints <0860> and bands <4886>

having nourishment <2023> ministered <2023>, and knit <4822>

together <4822>, increaseth <0837> with the increase <0838> of

God <2316>.

 20  Wherefore <3767> if <1487> ye be dead <0599> with Christ

<5547> from the rudiments <4747> of the world <2889>, why <5101>,

 as though living <2198> in the world <2889>, are ye subject

<1379> to ordinances <1379>,

 21  (Touch <0680> not; taste <1089> not; handle <2345> not;

 22  Which <3739> all <3956> are to perish <5356> with the using

<0671>;) after <2596> the commandments <1778> and doctrines

<1319> of men <0444>?

 23  Which <3748> things have <2192> indeed <3303> a shew <3056>

of wisdom <4678> in will <1479> worship <1479>, and humility

<5012>, and neglecting <0857> of the body <4983>; not in any

<5100> honour <5092> to the satisfying <4140> of the flesh

<4561>.

Colossians   3

 1. If <1487> ye then <3767> be risen <4891> with Christ <5547>,

seek <2212> those <3588> things which are above <0507>, where

<3757> Christ <5547> sitteth <2521> on <1722> the right <1188>

hand of God <2316>.

 2  Set <5426> your affection <5426> on things above <0507>, not

on things on <1909> the earth <1093>.

 3  For ye are dead <0599>, and your <5216> life <2222> is hid

<2928> with Christ <5547> in God <2316>.

 4  When <3752> Christ <5547>, [who is] our life <2222>, shall

appear <5316>, then <5119> shall ye also <2532> appear <5316>

with him in glory <1391>.

 5. Mortify <3499> therefore <3767> your <5216> members <3196>

which <3588> are upon the earth <1093>; fornication <4202>,

uncleanness <0167>, inordinate <3806> affection <3806>, evil

<2556> concupiscence <1939>, and covetousness <4124>, which

<3748> is idolatry <1495>:

 6  For which <3739> things' sake the wrath <3709> of God <2316>

cometh <2064> on <1909> the children <5207> of disobedience

<0543>:

 7  In the which <3739> ye also <2532> walked <4043> some <4218>

time <4218>, when <3753> ye lived <2198> in them.

 8. But now <3570> ye also <2532> put <0659> off <0659> all

<3956> these <3588>; anger <3709>, wrath <2372>, malice <2549>,

blasphemy <0988>, filthy <0148> communication <0148> out of your

<5216> mouth <4750>.

 9  Lie <5574> not one <0240> to another <0240>, seeing that ye

have put <0554> off <0554> the old <3820> man <0444> with his

deeds <4234>;

 10  And have put <1746> on <1746> the new <3501> [man], which

<3588> is renewed <0341> in knowledge <1922> after <2596> the

image <1504> of him that created <2936> him:

 11  Where <3699> there is neither <3756> Greek <1672> nor

<2532> Jew <2453>, circumcision <4061> nor <2532> uncircumcision

<0203>, Barbarian <0915>, Scythian <4658>, bond <1401> [nor]

free <1658>: but Christ <5547> [is] all <3956>, and in all

<3956>.

 12. Put <1746> on <1746> therefore <3767>, as the elect <1588>

of God <2316>, holy <0040> and beloved <0025>, bowels <4698> of

mercies <3628>, kindness <5544>, humbleness <5012> of mind,

meekness <4236>, longsuffering <3115>;

 13  Forbearing <0430> one <0240> another <0240>, and forgiving

<5483> one <1438> another <1438>, if <1437> any <5100> man have

<2192> a quarrel <3437> against <4314> any <5100>: even <2532>

as Christ <5547> forgave <5483> you, so <3779> also <2532> [do]

ye.

 14  And above <1909> all <3956> these <5125> things [put on]

charity <0026>, which <3748> is the bond <4886> of perfectness

<5047>.

 15  And let the peace <1515> of God <2316> rule <1018> in your

<5216> hearts <2588>, to the which <3739> also <2532> ye are

called <2564> in one <1520> body <4983>; and be ye thankful

<2170>.

 16  Let the word <3056> of Christ <5547> dwell <1774> in you

richly <4146> in all <3956> wisdom <4678>; teaching <1321> and

admonishing <3560> one <1438> another <1438> in psalms <5568>

and hymns <5215> and spiritual <4152> songs <5603>, singing

<0103> with grace <5485> in your <5216> hearts <2588> to the

Lord <2962>.

 17  And whatsoever <5100> ye do <4160> in word <3056> or <2228>

deed <2041>, [do <4160>] all <3956> in the name <3686> of the

Lord <2962> Jesus <2424>, giving thanks <2168> to God <2316> and

the Father <3962> by him.

 18. Wives <1135>, submit <5293> yourselves unto your <2398> own

<2398> husbands <0435>, as it is fit <0433> in the Lord <2962>.

 19  Husbands <0435>, love <0025> [your <3588>] wives <1135>,

and be not bitter <4087> against <4314> them.

 20  Children <5043>, obey <5219> [your <3588>] parents <1118>

in all <3956> things: for this <5124> is well <2101> pleasing

<2101> unto the Lord <2962>.

 21  Fathers <3962>, provoke <2042> not your <5216> children

<5043> [to anger], lest <3361> they be discouraged <0120>.

 22  Servants <1401>, obey <5219> in all <3956> things [your

<3588>] masters <2962> according <2596> to the flesh <4561>; not

with eyeservice <3787>, as menpleasers <0441>; but in singleness

<0572> of heart <2588>, fearing <5399> God <2316>:

 23  And whatsoever <1437> ye do <4160>, do <2038> [it] heartily

<5590>, as to the Lord <2962>, and not unto men <0444>;

 24  Knowing <1492> that of the Lord <2962> ye shall receive

<0618> the reward <0469> of the inheritance <2817>: for ye serve

<1398> the Lord <2962> Christ <5547>.

 25  But he that doeth <0091> wrong <0091> shall receive <2865>

for the wrong <0091> which <3739> he hath done <0091>: and there

is no <3756> respect <4382> of persons <4382>.

Colossians   4

 1. Masters <2962>, give <3930> unto [your <3588>] servants

<1401> that which is just <1342> and equal <2471>; knowing

<1492> that ye also <2532> have <2192> a Master <2962> in heaven

<3772>.

 2. Continue <4342> in prayer <4335>, and watch <1127> in the

same <0846> with thanksgiving <2169>;

 3  Withal <0260> praying <4336> also <2532> for us, that God

<2316> would open <0455> unto us a door <2374> of utterance

<3056>, to speak <2980> the mystery <3466> of Christ <5547>, for

which <3739> I am also <2532> in bonds <1210>:

 4  That I may make <5319> it manifest <5319>, as I ought <1163>

to speak <2980>.

 5. Walk <4043> in wisdom <4678> toward <4314> them that are

without <1854>, redeeming <1805> the time <2540>.

 6  Let your <5216> speech <3056> [be] alway <0104> with grace

<5485>, seasoned <0741> with salt <0217>, that ye may know

<1492> how <4459> ye ought <1163> to answer <0611> every <1538>

man <1520>.

 7. All <3956> my state <2596> shall Tychicus <5190> declare

<1107> unto you, [who is] a beloved <0027> brother <0080>, and a

faithful <4103> minister <1249> and fellowservant <4889> in the

Lord <2962>:

 8  Whom <3739> I have sent <3992> unto you for the same <0846>

purpose, that he might know <1097> your <5216> estate <4012>,

and comfort <3870> your <5216> hearts <2588>;

 9  With Onesimus <3682>, a faithful <4103> and beloved <0027>

brother <0080>, who <3739> is [one] of you. They shall make

<1107> known <1107> unto you all <3956> things which <3588> [are

done] here <5602>.

 10  Aristarchus <0708> my fellowprisoner <4869> saluteth <0782>

you, and Marcus <3138>, sister's <0431> son <0431> to Barnabas

<0921>, (touching <4012> whom <3739> ye received <2983>

commandments <1785>: if <1437> he come <2064> unto you, receive

<1209> him;)

 11  And Jesus <2424>, which <3588> is called <3004> Justus

<2459>, who <3588> are of the circumcision <4061>. These <3778>

only <3441> [are my] fellowworkers <4904> unto the kingdom

<0932> of God <2316>, which <3748> have been <1096> a comfort

<3931> unto me.

 12  Epaphras <1889>, who <3588> is [one] of you, a servant

<1401> of Christ <5547>, saluteth <0782> you, always <3842>

labouring <0075> fervently for you in prayers <4335>, that ye

may stand <2476> perfect <5046> and complete <4137> in all

<3956> the will <2307> of God <2316>.

 13  For I bear <3140> him record <3140>, that he hath <2192> a

great <4183> zeal <2205> for you, and them [that are] in

Laodicea <2993>, and them in Hierapolis <2404>.

 14  Luke <3065>, the beloved <0027> physician <2395>, and Demas

<1214>, greet <0782> you.

 15  Salute <0782> the brethren <0080> which are in Laodicea

<2993>, and Nymphas <3564>, and the church <1577> which is in

his house <3624>.

 16  And when <3752> this <3588> epistle <1992> is read <0314>

among <3844> you, cause <4160> that it be read <0314> also

<2532> in the church <1577> of the Laodiceans <2994>; and that

ye likewise <2532> read <0314> the [epistle] from Laodicea

<2993>.

 17  And say <2036> to Archippus <0751>, Take heed <0991> to the

ministry <1248> which <3739> thou hast received <3880> in the

Lord <2962>, that thou fulfil <4137> it.

 18  The salutation <0783> by the hand <5495> of me Paul <3972>.

Remember <3421> my bonds <1199>. Grace <5485> [be] with you.

Amen <0281>.
